How We Serve in Kimberley

Life Orientation Courses
We have ministered by teaching the required course of Life Orientation in public schools but from a Christian viewpoint, teaching the students that God made their bodies and knows the best way to keep them healthy. Starting with the idea of being made in God’s image allows us to dig deeper into topics of sexuality and drugs. In many of the black cultures in South Africa, it is taboo for adults to talk to children about sex, so, many of the students end up confused with misinformation from their peers. We have been able to offer them information including the Gospel that will bring about better results for them.

Youth Group
Another means of reaching out has been through hosting a youth group. This program helped young people become serious about their relationships with God. We consistently saw between 20-45 youth each week. Along with this, we held a Monday afternoon Bible study for teens, with attendance averaging 15-25. We also encouraged faithful attendance at Bible-preaching local churches, including taking a vanload with us each Sunday morning. We pray that God will continue to use His Word in the lives of those we taught.

Counseling
We counselled with many teens, adults, and couples; and even now counsel young adults remotely via WhatsApp, Messenger, or Zoom. Using our training from Biblical counseling courses, we are excited to be able to point people to answers in God's Word. We have also been able to teach Fresh Start, a Biblical forgiveness course, and have seen transformations as people are set free from the chains of unforgiveness and bitterness.

Bible College Fund
Donations to the Bible College Fund allow the students that we have worked with to attend Bible college. Some students have been particularly interested in training at Africa4Jesus, a discipleship school outside Kimberley. Would you consider donating to help these students immerse themselves in God’s Word and grow more in Him?

Other Areas of Ministry
When possibilities arise, we have loved speaking at conferences, leading youth seminars, and being involved in other ministries. When serving the Lord through community outreach, the opportunities for ministry are limited only by one’s imagination. If you are interested in pursuing ministry through community outreach, please contact AIMI.
